“No one is too small to make a difference” – Greta Thunberg

The global phenomenon which began with the solo “skolstrejk för klimatet” protest by a 15 year Swedish schoolgirl in 2018 is proof of the truth of that simple sentence.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, is the blueprint for future peace and prosperity for people and the planet. At its heart are the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals and its 169 targets.  At least six of them with 53 targets relate directly to tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.

The scale of the challenge is evident. That is why the emphasis in Goal 17 is on partnerships to strengthen the means of implementation.

What can the WICMI environment team contribute? Simply by combining and sharing our experience and hard earned knowledge: the original ideas, the pitfalls and failures in implementing actions for institutions and organisations as their contribution to tackling climate change and working to preserve the oceans and forests.

There is no one-size-fits-all solution.  No action is too small to make a difference.  Working as a team who hope – we intend to make a difference.
